Rising Star

Danielle Mincarelli, Rising Star Award:

Danielle Mincarelli, has been nominated for the Rising Star Award for her outstanding dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion. A passionate community advocate, Danielle volunteers with Give Big CHQ and the New Neighbors Coalition at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, helping newly arrived immigrants find support and guidance.

She brings her voice to broader platforms as well—competing in a JCC Speech Competition where she spoke on gender equality and empathy, and hosting her own podcast on Spotify, Balance With a Side of Chaos, which explores topics like self-love and authentic expression.

An active leader at school, Danielle is involved in NHS, SADD Club, Allies for Diversity, Book Club, and varsity tennis, cross country, and track. Through each role, she shares her message of inclusion and empowerment. In each of these roles, Danielle continues to advocate for inclusion, wellness, and open-mindedness among her peers. Danielle’s compassion, leadership, and drive to uplift others make her a true rising star.

Kaycee Colburn, Power the Future Award:

Kaycee Colburn has been nominated for the Power the Future Award in recognition of her visionary leadership in cultural advocacy and inclusive community engagement. A proud Seneca woman, Kaycee organized and led the 2023 Seneca Flag Raising Ceremony—an inspiring event that brought together local leaders, residents, and visitors to honor Indigenous heritage. She crafted the land acknowledgment, coordinated the singers and dancers, invited Seneca Nation representatives, and created the beadwork oak leaf that was presented by former Mayor Eddie Sunquist during the ceremonial gift exchange.

In her role as Artist in Residence at Jamestown Community College, Kaycee builds bridges between generations through education and art, increasing awareness of Indigenous history, identity, and contributions. Her work extends into media as well, with appearances on TV and cross-cultural podcasts where she promotes justice, identity, and inclusion.

Known for her authenticity, artistry, and unwavering commitment to human dignity, Kaycee advocates for human dignity and equity across social, political, and economic spaces. Her efforts to create meaningful, inclusive change truly embody the spirit of the Power the Future Award.

JamieLee Bonfiglio-Davis, Catalyst for Change:

JamieLee Bonfiglio-Davis has been nominated for the Catalyst for Change Award for her transformative work in making music education more inclusive and accessible. Rooted in equity, her work at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts is designed to welcome and engage students from all racial, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds—ensuring that the arts are not limited to those with financial means or access to well-funded schools.

Her efforts help to create spaces where young people from marginalized communities feel seen, heard, and valued. JamieLee goes beyond teaching—she supports her students at performances, champions their talents in the community, and advocates for platforms that elevate their voices.

By breaking down financial and social barriers, JamieLee is reshaping who belongs in the world of music—and who thrives in it. Her work fosters representation, empowerment, and lasting equity in the arts and education.

Amber Kautzman, Shattered Ceiling Award:

Amber Kautzman has been nominated for the Shattered Ceiling Award for her groundbreaking leadership in the traditionally male-dominated field of STEM. As a Dean at Jamestown Community College, she has not only achieved personal success but has also paved the way for future generations—especially young women pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Through her vision and determination, Amber has helped elevate JCC’s STEM programs and played a central role in reimagining the college’s general education curriculum to better prepare students for life and work. She is known for her compassionate mentorship and dedication to student success. One student recalled her encouraging feedback: "Just because it's hard doesn't mean you can't do it," while others praised her willingness to always stop and help.

Amber Kautzman is a powerful example of what’s possible when expertise meets empathy. Her work continues to challenge norms, open doors, and inspire change—making her a deserving recipient of the Shattered Ceiling Award.

Joyce Bess, Dorothy Height Legacy Award:

Joyce Bess has been nominated for the Dorothy Height Legacy Award in recognition of her lifelong dedication to education, community service, and advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion. Over a nearly 40-year teaching career, Joyce has inspired countless students, ensuring that every individual feels seen, supported, and valued regardless of their background.

A committed member of Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church, Joyce played a pivotal role in making the church accessible by advocating for a handicap-accessible ramp so her brother could attend weekly. She continues to enrich the church community with her gifts, compassion, and tireless spirit.

Beyond the classroom, Joyce has worked passionately to uplift young women in her community—offering mentorship, guidance, and resources to help them overcome personal and academic challenges. Through her leadership and example, Joyce embodies the principles of inclusion and empowerment, making her a true champion for justice and equity. Her lasting impact on education and community reflects the enduring legacy of Dorothy Height.
